I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC-WA), a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT-NY), and Registered Dance/Movement Therapist (R-DMT) with 10 years of experience in the mental health field. I received a Master of Science in Dance/Movement Therapy from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. I have provided individual and group therapy in a range of settings—from a New York City public hospital to a liberal arts college counseling center—to diverse populations of all ages.

My Priors (the beliefs I bring to my therapeutic work)

1. Our bodies are the literal ground of our being and must be included in therapeutic work.

2. Knowledge and wisdom are not limited to words and intellectual understanding. Feelings, instincts, physical sensations, images, visions, and dreams are other important forms of information.

3. We all have an innate genius and a desire to fulfill our potential on earth. Each of us is the expert of ourselves, but we often acquire mental clutter that gets in the way of knowing ourselves.

4. When all is said and done, Western psychotherapy and the medical model of mental health are not the be-all and end-all of becoming a whole person in the world. Sometimes we need to look deep inside ourselves, and sometimes we need to zoom out and see our place in the bigger picture. Therapy plays its role in a larger mosaic that includes community, creativity, nature, family/ancestors, religion/spirituality, and other fun and meaningful aspects of life.

One of my most important goals is to help clients trust themselves. For me, this means understanding and becoming friendlier with our deepest, darkest, and oldest parts—including our nervous systems—and being able to parse and integrate all of the valuable information offered by body and psyche. I draw from a wide range of theoretical and practical resources, including somatic practices and theories (polyvagal theory and the NeuroAffective Relational Model), nonverbal expression through movement art, and traditional talk therapy.

I currently provide in-person and telehealth therapy, with a practice located in downtown Walla Walla. My areas of specialization include body image issues, life and work transitions, creativity, anxiety, relational issues, navigating young adulthood, existential questions, dissociation, and couples therapy/communication.
